CLASSY, a name derived
from the trial of my life, is what I now
know myself to be but was not always what
I felt. Watching my mother and aunt, both
victims of cancer, who died a year apart
of each other; inspired me to make a choice
to live and die as they did, with dignity
and grace. Through them I learned the importance
of always keeping my head up, my back straight
and to possess confidence within myself
no matter what adversities come my way.
It was from them I learned that Classiness
is a form of grace and sophistication. It
is Elegant, Stylish, Tasteful, Refined,
Defined, and Exclusive – all characteristics
that many hope for but never achieve. It
posses flawless tendencies, but it is in
no way perfect. From them I learned that
a Classy woman is one who is admired for
representing inspiration and self-confidence
in the hearts and minds of those whose lives
she’s touched. A Classy woman is one that
a well respected man can appreciate and
be proud to walk with in public holding
her arm, knowing her to be his woman of
diligence, style and taste both in the streets
as well as in the private confines of their
love making.
Prior to the start of
my membership into this organization, I
lived my life as a divorced mother of 3,
maintaining 11 continuous years as a City
of Philadelphia employee, and share a close
relationship with my 4 dear sisters. I believed
my life was complete and satisfying, however
after learning that the internship was a
journey to learn more of myself, I made
the choice to accept this journey to discover
more of me and joined. I truly believed
I knew and had all I needed to be satisfied,
but instead found that my mind and my eyes
have been opened to limitless expectations.
I have made new friends and experienced
new things beyond the life I knew in my
neighborhood. I now recognize the growth
within me and I have learned that even at
44, life just gets better with time.
My sisters, friends and
family applaud the very thought of this
organization and all it represents. They
encourage me to finish the line even when
things get crazy. I am sure that my mother
and especially my aunt would also love and
admire what this organization stands for
and would have encouraged me to hang in
there no matter what.
Confident in myself,
Loving at all times, Aspiring to become
a better woman, Sophisticated as a Butterfly,
Sexy inside and out, Yearning to grow, that’s
me …….Classy!!!
